I had the pleasure of going to Toronto and recording a podcast with the founders of the @vitractofficial gut microbiome test this week. It was such an amazing experience and a really good reminder for me of why I do this. As evidenced by my lack of presence on social media, running a business while maintaining a full time hospital job and with a young family that will always be my priority is a daily hustle. But do I ever love just talking about gut health 🦠. And I am forever grateful that I connected with Chidozie and Linta from Vitract. Not only is their product amazing, but they are truly top notch people. I will share the podcast as soon as it’s available!

4 YEARS OF GUT HEALTHY DIETITIAN!

+2 months because I’m a bit late posting this. Originally launched as a 1:1 virtual private practice in March of 2020 (if I only knew what that month was going to bring I never would have launched), Gut Healthy Dietitian has grown to a team of 4 dietitians providing a wide range of nutrition counselling services virtually and on campus at our clinic at Western University.

Each year has brought new opportunities (and challenges) but I couldn’t be more grateful for the growth. 2024 seems to be the year of public speaking, which I have been loving. Most of all I am grateful for my team of amazing dietitians who make this possible, and our amazing (over 700 now!) clients. Bring on year 5!

MAGIC SHELL YOGURT BOWLS Or as my kids like to ca

MAGIC SHELL YOGURT BOWLS

Or as my kids like to call them, smash chocolate bowls. Which is honestly a better name. I went searching for fun breakfast ideas to change it up over March break and these were perfect. This is a basic version but you can add anything into the base you want to pack in more nutrition. Once it’s under a layer of chocolate they won’t even notice!

YOGURT BOWL BASE:
Plain Greek yogurt
Hemp hearts
Berries
Mixed nut butter

CHOCOLATE MAGIC SHELL:
Dark chocolate chips
1-2 tsp coconut oil (for melting)

DIRECTIONS:
Mix base ingredients together in a small bowl.
Melt dark chocolate and coconut oil in the microwave, stirring every 30 seconds to prevent burning.
Top each bowl with a thin layer of melted chocolate.
Freeze for 5-10 minutes and enjoy!
