Hemp hearts are all the rage! But do you know the benefits of hemp hearts and how to add them to your diet?

5 Facts About Hemp Hearts

1. Hemp hearts are the soft, chewy interior of hemp seeds that can be eaten raw 

2. Hemp hearts are a soure of omega-3 fatty acids (ALA) 

3. Hemp hearts are high in several important minerals including zinc, magnesium, iron and phosphorus

4. Hemp hearts are a great source of plant-based protein. One serving (3 Tbsp) = 10g of protein

5. Hemp hearts are a source of both soluble and insoluble fiber 

Hemp hearts have a mild, nutty flavour. My favourite ways to eat them include: 

  • Blended into smoothies 
  • Sprinkled over salads and avocado toast 
  • As a topping on yogurt or smoothie bowls 
  • Added to baked goods like loaves, cookies and muffins
