I always think of flax as the old school fiber additive since it was popular before hemp hearts and chia seeds arrived on the scene. But don’t be sleeping on flax! It packs some great nutrition and it’s bland, nutty taste makes it easy to add to all sorts of foods.

3 Facts About Flax:
- Flax is high in fiber (6g/2 tbsp), protein and omega-3 fatty acids as well as B-vitamins and minerals such as magnesium, phosphorus and zinc.
- Whole flaxseed often passes through the digestive tract undigested – therefore always buy ground flax/flax meal or grind it yourself in order to get the benefits of flax!
- You can replace ½ – 1 cup of flour in most recipes with flax (replace flour 1:1 with flax)
